Jnovmbr has quickly made a name for himself in the music industry, known for his unique sound and thoughtful approach to crafting albums and mixtapes. He offers a rare glimpse into how he decides which songs make the final cut. When it comes to crafting his albums and mixtapes, the first thing that goes into deciding if they will make it is the vibe. Jnovmbr states, “I often ask myself, “does it fit the big idea, and does it sound good regardless of subject matter?” He shares that the selection process always takes him a while because he always has a lot of songs to choose from. “Usually, the songs that I replay the most are more often the ones that make it through,” he adds.
Reflecting on his early career, Jnovmbr recalls, “During my first distribution deal, there was a song I had called Headshots. I knew it was good, but I didn’t know that as many people would like it as they did.” He shares that this was his first experience realizing that his favorite song might not be everybody’s favorite. Jnovmbr also emphasizes the importance of experimentation in his music. He states, “I experiment with new sounds while sticking to what the audience loves by simply making what I like to hear. If the audience likes it, that’s great, and if they don’t, that’s okay as well.” He shares, “For me, I just focus on making things that I want to play over and over.”
Through this approach, Jnovmbr continues to develop a sound that is authentic, engaging, and true to his vision. His commitment to making music he believes in, while respecting the tastes of his audience, underscores his growing influence in the industry.
