Flacko Santana on Music, Mood, and the Journey of an Underrated Artist

Flacko Santana is a rising artist who approaches his craft with an intensity and honesty that sets him apart in today’s music scene.
When it comes to deciding which songs make it onto his album or playlist, Flacko Santana shares, “I go with my feels, in other words the mood. I’ll listen to about 30 to 40 unreleased songs and listen to the vibe. The cover art of the project plays a big part; I’ll stare at the cover art as the songs are playing to see if it feels right. If the song catches my mood, it’s in the project.” He states, “I’m the same way with playlists. Making the song isn’t the problem—I run through emotions every day—but picking the songs for the project is the hardest part.”

Flacko Santana admits, “I believe that I’m not where I want to be career-wise as an artist. It’s funny because I was just thinking about this. I feel like I have good music. I’m such a turnt-up energy, and I know I’m not for everyone. I’ve always been very misunderstood.” He shares insight into how his music reaches the audience: “Now the good question is, do people genuinely listen to my tunes? Yes and No. Certain songs have given an eye on me, but have they changed my life as in hits? Nah, not yet. I feel like I’m very underrated. My biggest supporters come from overseas and other states. My own city supports to a certain extent, which is sad. But I guess that’s just how the game goes.” On the connection with his supporters, he states, “I feel like I connect with my supporters to a certain extent. I would love to be closer to my WAV3S—they’re the ones who keep the Surf going. But it’s when the most high wants it to happen. We keep creating on this side and making a name for ourselves. I’m a walking brand.” Flacko Santana also reflects on the challenge of understanding his audience, stating, “When it comes to my music, I really don’t know what the audience likes from me. I don’t know if they like the music for the ladies, or me talking about my life, or the turnt-up vibes. I’ve just always been a very versatile artist. I like to experiment with my sound, always have, and I feel like that’s what makes me, me.”

Flacko Santana shares his philosophy on music as an art form: “Music is a highly expressionistic wave, and I’m a highly expressionistic artist. I’m always going to express myself either through a high tone, a dark tone, and through my words. I feel the more you express yourself, the more you explore your voice. Flacko Santana  dedication to authenticity and expression, combined with his relentless creative energy, highlights why he continues to resonate with a growing audience. While he may still feel underrated, his vision, versatility, and connection to his supporters underscore the unique mark he is making on music today.
