Hoodrat Reflects on His Journey, Upcoming Releases, and the Struggles of Today’s World

Hoodrat, the rising artist known for his raw, emotionally charged music, has captured the attention of fans with his deeply personal and often unapologetic approach to songwriting. His most popular song, Public, stands as a testament to his ability to channel complex emotions into sound. However, when asked about the meaning behind his songs, Hoodrat admits he rarely knows exactly what they’re about. He attributes much of his work to a build-up of depression, hate, and anger—emotions that he pours into his music in the hopes of connecting with listeners who feel the same. “My most popular song I created is ‘Public,’” Hoodrat explains. “I never know what most of my songs are about. It’s just a bunch of depression, hate, and anger build-up.”

Hoodrat’s latest project, Deadmanlaflare 2, dives into themes that are raw and relatable to many—feelings, relationships, fake friends, and the inevitable struggles of life. Hoodrat shares that his music speaks to experiences that people can identify with, offering an outlet for those navigating similar challenges. The artist’s transparency is evident as he candidly describes the nature of his music. “It’s about a bunch of stuff—feelings, relationships, fake friends, and all that,” he says. “It’s stuff most can relate to.”

Looking ahead, Hoodrat is currently focused on releasing singles and shooting music videos, but fans can expect his next project to be titled Waste of Time. According to the artist, the project is a reflection of his personal frustration with how time is wasted in today’s world—a sentiment he feels many can understand. “My next project, I don’t know. I’m focused on singles and shooting videos right now, but my next release is gonna be called Waste of Time,” Hoodrat says. “Lately, I’ve been having my time wasted, and as you know, people in today’s time love to waste time.” Hoodrat’s honesty and commitment to expressing the hardships he’s faced through his music make him a relatable and compelling figure in the industry. With projects like Deadmanlaflare 2 and the forthcoming Waste of Time, it’s clear that Hoodrat will continue to use his platform to speak to the struggles of his generation, helping to create a space where listeners can feel seen and heard.
